Melissa Emerson

University Ombuds

Melissa is thrilled to be named as the next University Ombuds for Colorado State University.  While this is a new position for her, Melissa has worked on campus since 2005 and brings extensive experience and a strong theoretical background in analyzing, mediating and managing disputes at the interpersonal and organization levels.  Melissa earned a graduate degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Justice Studies from Montana State University.  She’s is a member of the International Ombuds Association and the Association for Conflict Resolution.

In her spare time Melissa enjoys traveling with her children, water sports, watching Survivor, dancing and yoga.

Kathy Rickard, Ph.D.

Faculty Ombuds

Kathy RickardKathy has a long-standing commitment to Colorado State University, where she has served as a faculty member in the Department of Psychology since 1983. She earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology and her master’s degree from the University of Georgia, and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama. She completed her internship at the Brown University School of Medicine. Kathy has been a clinical psychologist in Colorado since 1983. She is a member of the International Ombudsman Association and American Psychological Association. She serves as Ombuds for CSU faculty.

Kathy enjoys hiking, backpacking and spending time on the beautiful rivers of Colorado.
